The open-air public ice rinks have been popping out like mushrooms in Prague. With their growing quantity the visitors may expect increasing comfort and quality of skating. All of them have skate rentals, heated changing rooms or luggage storage, as well as refreshment stands. We have found out which ice-rink offers the best bar and where you can jump on the ice to cheer up after shopping.

Skating beneath the Žižkov Tower

In the Žižkov Tower Park, visitors skate directly beneath the illuminated Prague landmark. They are welcome to combine the winter sports experience with a visit to the Žižkov Tower - either for a lookout or to eat something good in its restaurant. Right next to the ice rink, there is a stand with a variety of refreshments: You can have mulled wine, selected grilled specials or a bombardino - the same as is served in the Italian Alps.

Many of us grew fond of the River Rink nearby the bike path in Karlín last year already. The main lures are the 45 m2 skating rink itself and the heated Aprés Skate Bar offering a large selection of food as well as various hot drinks to warm you up or long drinks - a great opportunity to enjoy the time with friends after skating.

Letná Ice Rink - several reasons for you to visit: It is the largest ice rink in Prague (the big rink is 40x20 m and the children’s rink is 20x10 m large), the admission is free and there is a refreshment stand. Th visitors may change their clothes and shoes in a heated tent for changing, and the toilets are available too.
Na Františku Public Ice Rink

The Na Františku Ice Rink is one of the mainstays of Prague's public ice skating, offering a skating surface of 40x20 m. On Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the ice rink is reserved for ice hockey played by public. There is no need to register in advance - you simply bring a hockey stick or a puck and play with those who are currently on the ice, or take turns. It is a great opportunity to meet new friends.

Čapadlo is another location on the Vltava riverbank that we have got used to quickly and happily. The pleasant area with a bar is once again going to turn into a public ice rink with a view of the Prague Castle. It goes without saying that there will be a refreshment stand, a rental shop for skates and children’s helmets, as well as a room to store and lock the shoes, clothes and luggage.

The ice rink is operated by the municipality of Prague 2, the website of which also features all the current information. The ice rink is located directly behind the Pavilon in the rose garden and offers a magical view of the park. There is a rental shop and a refreshments stand on site. Otherwise you can dine or have a drink in the Pavilon restaurant.

In addition to the standard facilities of rental shop and refreshments stand, the relatively large skating surface of the Löwit’s Mill ice rink offers the entrance for children under 150 cm for free. You can rent the entire ice rink for CZK 2500 to organize, for example, a hockey tournament for children. The company Jsme na ledě also operates the ice rinks in Smíchov and in the Folimanka park.

Swimming in summer, skating in winter In the winter, the Ládví swimming pool turns into an ice rink with an entrance fee at very reasonable prices. The entire rink can be rented for CZK 2,500 per hour - whether for a children’s tournament or an evening match with friends. Refreshments are also available here. Another possibility in the neighborhood is the ice rink at the Glowackého primary school in Prague 8.

Chodov on Ice public ice skating nearby the shopping mall is a great opportunity to make your shopping day a special one - or to make it a great time for children. The Ice Bar attached right to the ice rink offers various refreshments that the skaters can enjoy directly from the ice surface. On selected days, skating instructors offer their services. The ice rink in the Černý most Shopping Center is situated in front of the west entrance. It has an area of 45 m2 and its traffic can be checked in advance by means of a live video stream in the ICE-TEC mobile app. The facility also offers ice skating courses for children. And of course, a refreshments stand is here too.
Tip: Do you want to go skating with a companion, friends or the whole family by car? You can park free of charge for up to 4 hours in the Černý most Shopping Center, and for up to 3 hours in Westfield Chodov.
